wood burning pizza oven for the garden
Now here's a project - for man who likes projects!
An outdoor clay oven for baking pizza.
I spotted this on the Apple Day at St Ann's Hungerhill Gardens, Nottingham.
Raised up on re-used bricks to a workable height.
Stoked with wood and no chimney so that no heat is wasted.
Walls up to six inches thick that retain enough radiant heat for several hours cooking, once the temperature is reached.
Perfect pizza!
Where's my trowel?

This looks like a fab idea. I am always looking for a 'weekend idea' for my husband to make. it keeps him busy and out of trouble. Now where do i find the instructions.

Sadly, I don't have the instructions.
Think a tomato and onion base goes on first then topping of your choice.

You make a pile of sand the same size as you want the inside of your oven to be. Make a thick mixture of clay and cob and plaster this all over your pile of sand. The cob needs to be at least 6 inches thick. Allow the cob to dry over several days. Remove the sand from the inside and, hey presto, you've made a pizza oven!
Looks like a really simple method. Thanks Crusoe.
Great blog! The information you provide is quiet helpful, why I was not able to find it earlier. Anyways I’ve subscribed to your feeds, keep the good work up.
