building progress

Our Waxwings bungalow is beginning to take shape.

Internal courses of Celcon lightweight blocks are being faced with gorgeous Ancaster stone. The mortar between the blocks is applied very thinly. 25% of a buildings heat loss is through mortar joints.

The cavity between stone and block is 50% greater than current building regulations and is provided by 'Earthwool' made from recycled glass bottles.

The large gaps between the pillars of stone will be fitted with triple glazed windows ..... but when I'm not sure because we haven't seen samples yet, let alone placed an order with a lead time of up to sixteen weeks!!
