The ventilation system in our new bungalow will run above the thick ceiling insulation and enter the rooms to push air around the building and to remove stale air while capturing and returning the heat.

To prepare for the ducting, our architect recommended 'patrices': these fit between the rafters and have  a central hole through which ducts will enter the building. Each will be sealed to ensure that the buildings air tightness is not compromised.
