thats what it's all about...!
Monday morning. The lawn covered by a thick ground frost with the sky the brightest of blues above us.
Time for an early morning walk.
Having worked so hard from 2011 through 2013, it is reassuring to know that those times we told ourselves would arrive have finally come.
Through the gate, through the woods into the the reclaimed quarry that is now heath, into woods and up to the lane that leads to Lamins Lane and home.
BBC Winterwatch began broadcasting on Monday, on the most springlike day imaginable. Song Thrushes singing, territorial behaviour from tits but fieldfare clucking to remind us that it really is still winter. A nuthatch, like a masked pirate captain of old, swinging about among the rigging that is our pollarded sweet chestnut and our bird feeders, vanquishing all the other birds that come to feed.

Sure you haven't pinched that view from one you took earlier in Scotland! And if I can't get up there this year I will have to take advantage of my ready prepared bed with you!
That's the view over Hucknall Jan!! Always welcome, I just love it how you and Jill both fall asleep after dinner!
