King ‘Tater is born
Growing potatoes in our thin Nottinghamshire soils since 1978.
This year we had a few Charlotte seed potatoes we didn’t use. Not enough room in the beds.
So we planted them in the polytunnel. They had water when I was watering the tomatoes. A mulch of compost.
The haulm continued green way after the potatoes planted outside. But they were ignored.
This week one of the rat family from the compost bins turned up a spud in the polytunnel so I thought it time to lift them.
And to my astonishment we had grown this 2 pound, 1.04kg whopper. In an otherwise year for potatoes.
King ‘Tater.
