February frost
Skylark ringed and released |
A full moon and clear sky last night saw us casting long shadows across the rape field.
Nighttime bird ringing using a thermal imaging camera to locate the birds in the semi-darkness. But they located us before the ringers located them.
Result? A foot stamping cold night out under the stars.
A single barn owl ghosted along the hedgerow.
And white-over for the morning walk. Brilliant sky and great-spotted woodpecker drumming an accompaniment to a distant yaffling green woodpecker.
Bird feeders loaded and ready.
