Farewell to Finland

Day 72 #365DaysWild

Our first visit to southern Finland. On the same latitude as Anchorage. A landscape forested with aspen, birch and conifers.

Home of the red squirrel.

Also home of the elk. Somehow missed this massive beast.

Around two hundred barnacle geese gathered on the Helsinki beach on their autumn migratory route south - comfortably co-habiting with walkers and beach volleyball players.

Swallows chattering on the wires.

Birch bolletes sorted by foragers.

And three massive juvenile white-tailed eagles hanging high overhead on outstretched wings above Helsinki botanical garden moving south - marked our farewell to Finland in style!!!

Two of the white-tailed eagles ..
