Notts Wildlife Trust

Day 125 #365DaysWild

To the AGM of Notts Wildlife Trust last night.

Our county trusts movement has been a force for good in nature conservation for decades.
Celebrating NWT 25th birthday
with Sir David

Last night to the 60th anniversary of the foundation of what was then the Notts Trust for Nature Conservation - but what is now simply the Notts Wildlife Trust.

I’m pleased to have been a member almost since its inception. During that time I’ve conducted the Common Bird Census in Treswell Wood, was chair of the Mansfield and Ashfield Members’ Group for over ten years, planted the school pond with plants from Attenborough Nature Reserve with Sir David Attenborough and ensured bird seed hoppers were topped up as part of the NWT initiated ‘Farmland bed and breakfast’ scheme.

Somewhere I have a photo of the family car thoroughly bogged down in the mud during one wet session filling hoppers. The gamekeeper had to tow us out.

Hopefully more fun to come..

Congratulations on sixty years campaigning and making a practical difference for nature. So much achieved with so much more to do.
