Wintersweet (Chimonanthus praecox).

Welcome intense sweetness in the Fragrant Garden. Wintersweet  is a Chinese, frost-hardy deciduous shrub whose place is earned in the garden by its unseasonal flowering.

We discovered many lights along our journey as we began thinking about our new garden and the opportunities it presented. At the National Trust Biddolph Grange garden Wintersweet was in its pomp in their restored stumpery.

The stumpery created and maintained by Roger and Judith is worth the entrance money alone when we open our gardens for charity.

And Jill’s wintersweet is maturing into an outstanding plant.
