Then, on a later snatch of film, a female muntjac squared up to the fox. Head lowered she attempted a butt. But. He was too quick on his feet and the deer was vanquished.

Muntjac are very protective of their young. A heavily pregnant female has been around the garden over the past few weeks.

Perhaps she has a fawn tucked away somewhere nearby..?
