precious minutes out to for an anti-social retch...

A warm evening and a still spot on our ‘Green Lane’ for the moth light.

Thunderstorms were imminent so a session shortened to around ninety minutes.

But, still a beezer night.

126 moths of 39 species

The invasive box moth was very much in evidence ( seven moths ). With their floppy, ghostly, white-winged flight they must surely be prey for our brown long-eared bat population?

Sallow kitten

A grey dagger appeared and a good mix of other moths.

Favourite amongst them was the gorgeous sallow kitten - a moth of willows. We’re nurturing goat willows because they’re so important for a range of moth species.

You always know you’ve had a good night mothing when you breath in a small flying insect and have to take precious minutes out to for an anti-social retch.
