It has been slow coming, but spring is here.

Yesterday I saw my first swallow and then we cut our first asparagus on our visit to the allotment.

This seasonal eating business heightens the anticipation of these moments tremendously. We cut our last asparagus at the summer solstice - 21st June. We had some frozen, but this is our first fresh for ten months.

For two months we will enjoy apsragus in salads, soups and risottos - to name just three of my favourite ways of eating this delicious vegetable.
