chelsea flower show

Last week to London to the world famous Chelsea Flower Show.

This was our first visit (Saturday openings are a recent innovation) and it was a great day out.

The show has outdoor gardens (large and small) trade stands and a large indoor pavilion.

The wet weather meant that our focus was mainly on the pavilion stands - which were amazing. Such professionalism in presentation and high quality of plants.

These sempervivums caught my eye - but everywhere I looked there was something else superb to see. Ten foot high delphiniums, stunning vegetables, astonishing displays of clematis, roses or acers.

At 4:00pm, many of the exhibitors sell off their plants. We came back loaded with orchids, roses, clematis, chrysanthemums and much more! The London underground subway system was littered with petals from the hundreds of people who had brought back plants.

Recommended.
