window installation begins

In appropriately Scandinavian weather our window installation began on Tuesday.

The windows are a key part of the low energy concept behind our building. Made by idealCombi and manufactured in Denmark, the windows are triple glazed. Conventional homes leak heat through their windows - even double glazed windows lose precious and expensive heat.

The windows we have chosen have a Uvalue of 0.8. Allied with walls with a Uvalue of 0.1, 400mm of insulation above the ceiling, thick insulation in the floor and air tightness to the highest standard we can achieve.

The challenge for fitters is the weight of the windows. We have had to halt the installation of the larger windows during the snowy weather due to concerns about the stability of the fork lift travelling over uneven and snowy ground.
