Muntjac

I've got a few of the little garden trail cameras now. They are unseen, unblinking eyes on the garden and let me see what I otherwise wouldn't.

Which, as yesterday, was 175 short vids of leaves and squirrels and pheasants. Oh - there's a rat. Panning for gold.

We’ve been aware of tiny muntjac deer in the garden for some time. We see their droppings on our paths and occasionally see them on the garden trail cams.

Earlier in the year a female and her single young.

Today, the first evidence of two males on the trail cam.

Invasive alien species they may be, but nevertheless  strikingly attractive.

One male much darker than the other.
