Poor old toad
Juvenile Tawny owl
Day 32 #365DaysWild
Tawny owls are very vocal at the moment.
They have a range of well-known vocalisations. There is a less-known call like an ululation we’re hearing during warm evenings during owl conversations. I open the doors to the terrace and just luxuriate in the sounds.
Owls are very site-faithful. We’ve had owlets raised in our boxes for several years and so the chances are that the calls we’re hearing may be from some of the birds raised here.
And the evening calling indicates foraging too.
This tawny visited our recently-created orchard pond and helped itself to tea. Poor old toad!
