Humming

Day 108 #365DaysWild

A hummingbird hawk moth surprised us at dusk on a windy early evening nectaring on flowers of salvia ‘Hot lips’.

You learn to watch out for their unique darting flight and hovering over selected flowers.

Hummingbird hawk moths feed on tubular flowers. Salvia flowers are perfect for them.

With luck the late season nectar will enable the moth to hibernate through winter and we’ll see him again in the spring..
