Apple harvest …

Day 109 #365DaysWild

Last year was a bumper apple harvest. We enjoyed (and we’re spoilt by!) stored apples until May.

This year our meagre crop is less than 10% of last. Apple blossom succumbed to prolonged cold spring weather.

Poor for us.

But much poorer for the insects, mammals & migrant winter thrushes that feast on fallen apples too, sometimes depending on the sweet nutritious flesh to get them through harsh weather.
