First frost ..

Day 107 #365DaysWild

The first frost of the season hung around till mid-morning on Sunday. Chilly enough to see the first outing of big boys trousers since May as it was very cold around the knees.

Overhead three buzzards circling on the thermals in the bright sky.

Great gardening weather!

Into the vegetable garden for the beginning of the big tidy.

Small tortoiseshell on marigold. This species was quite uncommon in the garden this year ..

Red admiral - easily the most-abundant of our butterflies this year.

We’ve been keen to encourage nectar and pollen for invertebrates and those flying today were busy on marigolds, dahlias and the flowers of rocket.

Not a vintage season for the cucurbit family but squash now harvested and into the greenhouse to cure.
