Outriders …
Day 100 #365DaysWild
Overhead. High. Flying south. Thrushes. Four of them.
North European winter migrants. Redwings. Their high-pitched calls now beyond the range I can hear.
These were outriders. Fifteen thousand are reported to have crossed the North Sea and are currently ‘all over’ Spurn Point.
Redwings will be noisily accompanied by fieldfares (their larger, continental cousins) in our gardens and fields - gorging on berries and fruits until spring.
Each of the portents of seasonal change are such a thrill!
