Aviary opportunity..

Day 225 #365DaysWild

I’m just putting this out there in case anyone is listening..

Ours is a six acre garden outside Nottingham. Our focus is biodiversity. We have opened to support Notts Wildlife Trust and Butterfly Conservation. We have ringing and next box schemes in our garden and on the local farm. This year we’ve initiated a house sparrow project on the adjacent retirement village.

Just to say we have two large aviaries (formerly hen runs) each approx 3mx3m. Each with an attached hen house. The aviaries are redundant since we stopped keeping hens.

One will need me to put a finer mesh on to make it secure. The other is fine.

In conversation here, we wondered whether our moribund aviaries could be utilised as breeding accommodation for birds. Part of a reintroduction programme?

We’d want to cover any costs ourselves.

If you can put your thinking caps on about this, and point us in a productive direction, we would appreciate it.

With best wishes

Rob
