Calling all sparrow lovers!!  

Checked most of our boxes today with Hayley.

Ten of our boxes (30%!) have been successfully occupied by blue tits in year one of our project to build the house sparrow population in Sandy Oaks Retirement Village.

And one box (not in a garden!) occupied by a big friendly hornet!

Our hope is that the sparrows get used to the boxes and begin to feel more confident with them from now on..

The persistent rains had swollen the wooden lids of the boxes. We may need to do some remedial work.
