frog on a blog

Hiatus on blogging front - due to gardening!

Here, a frog is confused by the trickling water feature installed earlier in the year.

It was made from an old builders' bucket, a plastic vegetable tray and an old pond pump. Garden stones were layed onto the vegetable tray and the water trickles up through the stones and back into the builders' bucket.

What greater approval can a man ask for than it is visited by a discerning garden frog?

They are amazing! I have two frogs who live in my compost heap underneath the carpet. Very sensible!

Frogs have become extinct in large parts of agricultural Nottinghamshire due to intensive farming methods.

Gardens are now the strongholds of our once common frog.

My next job is to get a new pond sorted.

I do need to get on with my pond project, for sure, too. I see an occasional garden toad, currently, but it would be great to have more diversity.

Love the way the stones look in your simple water feature!

I think it must be 'pond season' because we've been giving my mum and dad's pond a makeover. There's a photo or two on the way.
There were several grumpy frogs who clearly did not understand the concept of 'no gain without pain' as I emptied their home out!
